Frequently Asked Questions

While medical care with Mexico is often much less expensive than in the United States, there are a lot of variables that determine cost.

The USA, Canada, and many countries worldwide, the cost per surgery considers factors like city, hospital, medical equipment used, follow-up consultations that are included, medical fees and any extras, amongst many others.

It also depends on what the patient’s needs are. With all this in mind, most hospitals, doctors, and health facilitators always use the “estimate rate” concept. Until the patient has been physically evaluated by their treating doctor along with all the medical test required for that specific treatment or procedure an accurate rate could be determined. Once the patient has had their consultation and Mivera has given the patient a final price, they can rest assured that it will not change, unless their situation changes drastically.

The Mivera medical team is experienced and highly skilled. Post-operative complications are rare and typically minor. Nonetheless, every surgical procedure—even cosmetic—carries some risk.

If complications do arise, our medical staff works with your home doctor to help coordinate your full recovery. It depends. Mivera offers a suite of procedures and treatments that require very little downtime, while other larger surgeries may require a stay of 10-15 days. As a rule, we block out patient stays the following way, as based on international care standards for the safest experience possible:

  • 5 to10 days for simple procedures
  • 10 to15 days for the average procedure
  • 15 to 30 days for the most complicated or multiple procedures.

In addition to ensuring your treatments have gone smoothly and you have enough time to recover before heading home, you have the opportunity to explore local culture, historic sites, and take tours during your stay. All of our tourist and cultural activities are handpicked in order to fit your post-procedure needs – when you’re ready to explore, simply ask your wellness concierge to arrange it all!

Even after you return home, Mivera remains involved in and committed to your care. At any time your home physician can get in touch with the medical team that treated you in Mexico. We’ll forward contact information and, if requested, a full medical record from your procedure. In addition to that, if you require any additional communication, we can arrange a videoconference between you local doctor and your doctor in Mexico.

Absolutely. In fact, we recommend it! Mivera will book airfare, arrange accommodations, and organize wellness and other leisure activities for your entire party. We’ll also make sure your companions have things to do while you’re at your medical appointments or recovering from your procedure. You and your party will enjoy personalized attention from our staff and wellness team.

If you would rather visit us on your own, you will be assisted by your personal medical concierge at all times.

You could—but not without plenty of headaches and risk.

It can be extremely difficult to verify the credentials of a physician who practices outside the U.S. But with Mivera, we guarantee you’ll be working with only the most highly trained and experienced medical professionals.

Moreover, if complications arise from a procedure you booked yourself, you may have little if any recourse once you return home. You’re essentially on your own. Conversely, Mivera will coordinate your post-op care with your home doctor, forwarding medical records from your procedure and making sure your treating physician is available for consultation.

Most important, we assume full legal and contractual responsibility for the duration of your recovery, covering the cost of any necessary follow-up treatment or revision.

Many medical tourism companies are little more than “facilitators.” They just make all the arrangements—airfare, hotel, medical treatment—much the way a travel agent might.

With Mivera, from the moment you decide to book with us, you’re actually in our care. We customize every aspect of your wellness experience: your medical treatment, your travel and accommodations, and what we like to call your Recovery Rx: your personally prescribed leisure and cultural activities based on your chosen procedures.

Our doctors are experts in their fields and our wellness teams are consummate professionals. And much like a hospital or clinic in the U.S., you’re legally and contractually protected in the event of complications or other problems relating to your care. If something goes wrong—and it rarely does—you don’t have to fend for yourself. Mivera has you covered.
